Strategy iconIT Capability Assessment for a
Financial Services Organisation

Peru's commitment

The client had created a new business strategy, and the CIO function was preparing its response to ensure it fully supported this new direction. The CIO needed to understand the capability of the team and the broad technical environment to deliver the strategy

The substance

Peru worked with our client through the following process:

  • An assessment of the current technology environment, specifically with respect to suitability to support the business strategy
  • Interviews with the senior IT team and other stakeholders using our proven, structured approach
  • Observed team behaviours in day-to-day activities
  • Reviewed project life cycle outputs, processes and management information
  • Performed a comparative assessment versus peer group companies and combined this with an analysis of industry trends to help form improvement recommendations

These activities then provided a substantial quantity of information which included:

  • A detailed maturity assessment of people, processes and technology with respect to the departments' capability to deliver the revised business strategy
  • A structured, actionable plan to address identified shortcomings
  • An executive briefing pack to communicate the key findings and recommendations

The outcomes

All of the above activity resulted in an objective analysis of the IT team's capability to deliver a sustainable business strategy. This included a clear, pragmatic plan to address areas for improvement, gaining executive team by-in for the investment required to achieve the long-term goals.

What our client said:

“The Peru assessment has given us a frank and extremely valuable assessment of capability. The whole team has responded really well to the feedback” Chief Information Officer
